This event is in memory of the late Dave Balderstone, on his favorite track, Tilted Sally, which has since been renamed to his nickname, 'Flowrider'. Dave was a very talented young club rider who passed away in 2011. Dave was renowned rider with skill to burn, named by Ox of Rockstar Racing as the 'King of Off-Camber'
This attracted a turn out of over 100 riders with a great show of locals and a generous dose of out-of-town riders also. Events like these, and at this level definitely gives back to the local riding community, adding more depth to the amazing talent already in Canterbury!
Jack Davey, and closely followed by Shaun Barclay
Oli Clark at warp speed on the road gap - riding the all-new Specialized Demo 29
unfortunately Mal Grey got eaten up by a hole, causing her front wheel to wash out and ultimately resulting in a broken collarbone!
Alex Wayman railing a dusty berm at serious pace
Will Keay delivers the roost to order, this man pulls the strings at Gravity Canterbury and makes days like these happen!
Finn Sullivan here looking composed as he hangs on through the 2x massive holes in the riding line of the berm - these caused many a crash as you will see further on!

Heres Hamish McLeod and local pro Joe Nation make short work of this high speed section
The natural diversity (especially in the shoulder seasons) is one of things I love the most about shooting bikes here in Canterbury, at the top of the hill we begun with copious amounts moon dust, blown out berms and all things dry and brown, we shift down the hill and we have soft green grass, mixed with the effervescent hues of yellow and green gorse, and thenmove in into the lush forest floor of ferns and undergrowth...!
A pan shot is when you turn the camera on a fixed axis. It is a technique where you follow a moving subject, and you can shoot this with a slower shutter speed to create a feeling of speed or action - I had a lot of pressure to produce some of these and having virtually never produced a decent one before, I was a little nervous, thankfully after a several attempts I produced a few mediocre shots!
Follow through as Rory Meek of the MeekBroz hits a big hole, its throw him out, his front wheel sinks another bomb hole, it throws him in to deep to his inside line and he takes a big slam,
Please note - Nils was fresh of taking the U21 EWS Team World Championship along with young New Zealanders Brady Stone and John Richardson, off the back of some stellar individual EWS efforts.
