Although this isn't a great photo, it is of interest as this taken from approx. 1400m (4500ft) and, looking up and over Porters Pass you can see all of the low cloud cover that shrouds the Canterbury Plains and Christchurch City, with the Port Hills in the distance rising up above the layer.
*Foggy Peak, Castle Hill Peak and Mt Torlesse

It is nestled at the base of Porters Ski Area in the Craigieburn range, so perfectly located whether you're here for the biking, hiking, the stunning views or simply passing by. Drop in and say hello, enjoy a bite to eat and a cold drink, or maybe an awesome Underground Coffee to go to get you back on the road!

2.3km-worth of purpose-built mountain bike flow trail. With a vertical climb of 120 meters, the mountain bike trails are wide and smooth, full of berms, rolls, pops and hips. Designed and built by renown track builder Cameron Bisset from D&E Track and Trail
Thanks to Porters Lodge for the top notch feed, a closed track and the trail dogs! Special shout out to the extensive network of trail building that has been done in the Castle Hill/Craigieburn Region, especially to Richard Goldsbury for putting in the hard yards on Mint Lyndon/Mount Lyndon and creating what is arguably the best trail in Canterbury, also to Cam Bisset/D&E for creating the wee gem that is the Porters Flow Trail - speaking of Porters...... Watch this space next summer! .....exciting things on the horizon!
