Lake Heron lies between the Old Man and Mt Taylor ranges to the east, and the Arrowsmith Range to the west, and drains into the Rakaia River

The lake, the largest of the Ashburton lakes, is a wildlife sanctuary and nature reserve with prolific bird life, including the endangered Southern Crested Grebe, and is a popular fishing spot.

'the reid' Single Malt Vodka is made from just three ingredients; barley, water and yeast. Named for three of the distillery's founders, 'the reid' starts life in the same way as our Single Malt Whisky, giving fullness and body to this uncompromising Vodka. The Scottish two-row barley is milled, mashed and then fermented. It is then distilled our 7.5 metre German column still. We then add back our pure, alpine Cardrona water to bottle strength of 44 percent alcohol by volume.
